    Usmagazine.com just reported the following:

The Humane Society of the United States
is worried about the example Britney Spears set this weekend when she bought a purebred Yorkshire Terrier puppy at a pet store.

In a press release, the Society’s director of outreach for companion animals Stephanie Shain said: “Most dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills — factory-like facilities, churning out purebred and “designer” puppies in large numbers…Every time someone purchases a dog from a pet store, they risk perpetuating the horrendous business of puppy mills.”

Further, the organization is concerned with the seeming haste with which Spears purchased the $3,000 puppy. Shain contines, “Choosing a dog is a major lifestyle decision that should not be taken lightly. We suggest that people take time to choose a member of their family, and to be sure they are working with a reputable breeder.”

While Spears could never be accused of taking her time with major lifestyle decisions, especially when it comes to new additions to her family, the Humane Society is eager to lend the popstar a hand with her new pup. Shain tells Spears, “If you send us a copy of your dog’s papers, we’d be happy to look into the situation for you.”

Why aren’t the humane society complaining about the way Paris Hilton picks up animals. Britney hasn’t done anything Paris hasn’t, but they attack her

I agree with the Human Society!! Puppy mills should not be promoted and the majority of dogs sold in pet stores come from horrible puppy mills!!! A dog is a big responsibility, it is not an accessory and people should think twice before purchasing one. Too many dogs are abused, neglected and horrible treated in puppy mills facilities!! Not matter what the pet stores say, I strongly believe that NO RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS WOULD EVER SELL TO A PET STORE!
