Can you tell me more about Advantage 2?
Of course, thanks for asking! First of all, Advantage 2 from Bayer is an effective flea killer, but not recommended for killing ticks. If you are concerned about both fleas and ticks, check out Frontline Plus and K9 Advantix II.
A fast acting flea medication, Advantage II starts working within 2 hours of application, and will kill preexisting fleas and lice on your dog or cat within the first 12 hours. It’s safe and easy to apply, and is waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about it washing off in the bath, or in your neighbors pool. (ha, ha)
Advantage® kills fleas in all stages of their life cycle, from disgusting little babies up to wise old fleas with long white beards and wizard staffs. It should work for about one month, at which point you should apply more, especially during flea and tick season.
Can dogs have a reaction to Advantage II?
As with any medication, certain dogs and cats may react differently. Like all other flea and tick spot on meds, including Frontline Plus, it has strong active ingredients: in this case Imidacloprid (9.1%) and Pyriproxyfen (0.46%). If you believe that your pet is having problems related to this medication, please consult your vet as soon as possible.
