Breaking Down the Drama Surrounding Lena Dunham’s Dog Lamby

Lena Dunham and her dog drama have been all over the news lately. She decided to rehome her dog of over four years, Lamby, and the internet is up in arms about it.

There are varying accounts of why and how this rehoming happened. But what really went down? Read on the get the full story.

Who is Lena Dunham Anyway?

Hi, don’t mind me! Just showering lying down with my Starbucks cup full of La Croix (not sponsored.) In response to the sweatshirt debacle of yesterday, I’ve had some amazing dialogue with other women about representation, reclaiming negativity and size inclusive clothing brands. I follow some incredible fashion bloggers/designers who highlight this (not even tagging the models, actors and “influencers” who inspire me in the confidence dept) and have tagged a bunch of my true faves. But I want to hear from you! Because for my upcoming TV appearances -it’s gonna be a bad fall for those who hate me- I’ll be only repping brands that cater to ALL women. Can you @ me with your favorites and my girl @marissaconqueso and I will get to work sharing our picks? ? I’d rather go naked than promote exclusivity ?

A post shared by Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) on

If you’re out of the loop or don’t dabble much in social media, Lena Dunham is the former creator and star of Girls. The hit HBO series launched her from Oberlin alum and daughter of wealthy Manhattan parents to a bonafide feminist, and body-positivity jack-of-all-trades.

She’s had her fair share of controversy over the years, from that Odell Beckham Jr. faux-pax to defending a co-worker accused of sexual assault by calling his accuser a liar and golddigger. It’s has been a bumpy road for Dunham as much as a successful one.

Most of her controversy is self-inflicted as she often takes to social media to comment and confess. She’s not one to keep things quiet, inviting criticism and leaving just a little too much room for error on her end. Unfortunately, her animals have now been caught in the cross-fire.

Dunham has been in the news lately because not one, not two, but three, yes three of her animals have left her home permanently. Two of them passed away. Her cat Gia Maria died suddenly and her Yorkie, Bowie, died just a few weeks ago.

Then there’s Lamby, Dunham’s first dog rescue and certainly the most well known of her pets. Dunham rehomed the dog this last year after four years of what she claims was aggressive and unmanageable behavior. But this story just isn’t adding up, so let’s dive into Lamby’s tale and what really happened here.

The History of Lamby

lamby dog

Dunham adopted Lamby almost five years ago from a rescue in New York called BARC Shelter. The folks who work at the rescue say they saw Lamby be affectionate and warm with Dunham and her mother first-hand when they visited the dog and subsequently adopted him.

For several years, Lamby was the only pet Dunham owned and shared along with her then-boyfriend Jack Antonoff. The dog made frequent appearances on her Instagram account and was brought to several green rooms for late night appearances on talk shows.

It seemed the dog was social and friendly although Dunham would sometimes reference behavior mishaps like the dog drinking his own urine. However, none of the behavior she chronicled online made the dog appear to be aggressive toward people or unfriendly.

Where is Lamby Now?

To put it simply, he was adopted by one of the people who worked at the training facility, The Zen Dog, where Dunham sent the dog. But why, exactly?

Dunham claims that after years of training and working with Lamby, she just wasn’t able to give him the kind of home in which he would thrive and was no longer equipped to handle his aggressive behavior.

To back it up a bit, she also claims in a statement made on social media that Lamby had three prior owners before her and was evidently abused. This is where the drama sets in because the people at BARC have a different story.

They claim that Lamby’s original owners surrendered the dog and cited a lack of time to care for him as their reason. That being said, the shelter also points out that this is the only information they ever had on Lamby or that Dunham was given about the history of her new dog.

Claims that Dunham has been making about how many owners the dog has had and his prior abuse seem impossible for her to know for sure. The lack of consistency between her version of her story and the shelters’ certainly makes the whole thing sound fishy.

Shelters like BARC or organizations like Humane Society International work tirelessly to make sure animals are being treated fairly so the idea that the shelter would lie about Lamby’s past doesn’t really add up.

Dunham’s Other Pet Drama

The Lamby drama is only exacerbated by the problems Dunham has recently encountered with her other pets. As mentioned before, both her cat and her other dog recently passed away.

Her cat, Gia Maria, a sphynx cat who was only nine months old, died in her arms while being rushed to the vet. Her dog, Bowie, a 13-year-old Yorkie was given to her by close friends and then had to be put down only a few months later, presumably of age-related issues.

Dunham explained that Bowie’s passing was a choice made by herself and his former owners, her friends. These deaths and the rehoming of Lamby are hopefully all just unfortunate coincidences.

But what has people bothered is the fact that Dunham has adopted two poodles which are rumored to be non-rescues. People are scratching their heads wondering what’s going wrong in her house; if she just had a case of bad pet luck or if she was hoping to swap out Lamby with another dog (or two).

The Other Side

Lamby’s former trainer, Matt Beiser, has come to Dunham’s defense explaining that she did everything and anything to help her dog overcome his behavioral issues and finally got to a breaking point.

He agrees that rehoming the dog was the best choice and iterates that it’s often not until well after a pet is adopted that their true colors and behavioral patterns begin to show. He says this was the unfortunate case with Lamby.

Beiser explains that the dog was difficult to handle, bit often and didn’t want to be touched. So much so that when working with him as a trainer, they’d have to take him out while in his crate because he didn’t feel his staff was safe attempting to handle the dog on their own.

He says Dunham did all she could and loved the dog very much but no amount of training she was providing him was helping to make him healthy and happy living in her home.

Wishing Lamby the Best

There are certainly two sides to this Lamby saga. It’s important to remember that not every dog is a right fit for every owner and their lifestyle, no matter how hard they want it to work.

We hope that Lamby is living his best life with his new owner and that Dunham continues to care for her new pets the best way she can.

5 Celebrity Inspired Dog Walking Outfits

Just because you’re walking your dog, it doesn’t mean you can wear pajamas! After all, you want both you and your pooch to look amazing.

Most dog owners walk their pets for at least eight hours and 54 minutes a week. You never know who you’ll bump into while taking a stroll through the park.

Nowadays, there are plenty of dog walking outfits for every style. Throw away your old clothes and put something nice on.

Walk your furry friend in style with these celebrity-inspired outfits:

Cardigan and Jeans

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress loves to wear cozy cardigans and jeans when walking her pooch. Her fashion style is classy yet relaxed.

Dakota matches her dog walking outfits with a pair of boots and black-rimmed glasses. Her geek chic look doesn’t go unnoticed.

You can do the same – put on a blazer or a cardigan plus boyfriend jeans. Wear a basic T-shirt or a sweater beneath the cardigan.

Hoodie and Yoga Pants

Gigi Hadid looks stunning in leggings and yoga pants! She usually matches them with cropped hoodies or loose jackets.

This outfit is perfect for a long walk in the park. It keeps you warm and shows how hard you’ve worked your legs. Put on a pair of sneakers and you’re good to go!

Parka Jacket and Classic Jeans

Dog walking is anything but fun when the temperature drops. However, this doesn’t mean you should keep your pooch inside the house.

Take inspiration from Sienna Miller and wear a cozy parka jacket. Match it with classic jeans and boots to stay warm. Better yet, add a hat to the mix!

Get some cute accessories for your pet too. A custom dog tag or a stylish vest will make him look awesome!

A Cute Romper

Don’t let the hot weather stop you from taking long walks! A fashionable romper is all you need to stay cool in the summer.

Olivia Munn, for instance, looks fabulous in rompers. She matches them with sneakers or slip-on shoes for a comfortable walk.

Rompers come in all shapes and styles. You don’t have to be super lean to wear one! Go online for inspiration.

From sleeveless rompers to ruffle rompers and chiffon rompers, there are hundreds of models available. Choose one that matches your body type. For a classy look, pick a romper dress.

Tank Top and Maxi Skirt

Look casual yet feminine like Ashley Tisdale in a tank top and maxi skirt. The actress prefers pastel colors, such as pink and cream. She also has a passion for wedges!

This kind of outfit looks great on everyone! Whether you’re full-figured or slender, people will compliment your style.

If you’re not into wedges, go for flats or slip-ons.

How to Choose the Best Dog Walking Outfits

As you see, there are no set rules on what to wear when walking your pooch. It all comes down to your preferences.

The whole point is to feel comfortable without compromising on style. Jeans, leggings, T-shirts, and casual jackets are a great choice. If heels are your thing, go for it!

5 Celebrities Who Adopted (Adorable!) Rescue Puppies

Celebrity rescue dogs: Each year, approximately 4 million dogs and cats are rescued and taken into their forever homes.

Turns out even celebrities love their animals just as much as we do. Although you might assume that celebrities buy their pups from expensive breeders, many choose to adopt instead.

This amazing trend of rescue puppies is one we can definitely get behind, and we’re here to show you just how popular this movement is in today’s society. Let’s get into it!

Celebrities Adopting Adorable Rescue Puppies

Gisele Bundchen & Tom Brady

tom brady dog

Even though they could easily afford any animal on the market, this powerhouse couple chose to adopt their adorable new friend, named Fluffy, in early 2016 from Wags and Walks Rescue.

Huge animal advocates, Gisele and Tom are also the owners of two other rescue dogs.

George Clooney

clooney dog

Did you know that Hollywood’s notorious sexiest gentleman is also an avid doggie lover?

In 2015, George and Amal Clooney adopted Millie, a 4-year old homeless Basset Hound from the Humane Society.

This dog joined their other rescue dog, Louie, and the two quickly became best friends.

Dog owners need to make many choices. From figuring out your dog’s diet to buying the best air purifier for pet hair removal, (allergies?) you will undoubtedly be faced with many important decisions. Be like Clooney and check out rescue options first.

Hilary Swank

hilary swank rescue dog

Just because she’s a legendary and award-winning actress doesn’t mean Hilary Swank is above animal justice and animal rights.

In fact, Hilary is such an advocate for abandoned and rescued dogs that she created her own charity, the Hilaroo Foundation, after falling in love with Karoo on set in South Africa.

Hilary was so smitten with this dog that she essentially had her nursed back to health (the poor Karoo was completely full of worms, covered in fleas, and had been doused in kerosene).

When Karoo died prematurely, Hilary knew she had to turn her life into a legacy and help other dogs, and that was the catalyst behind launching her organization.

She’s also the proud owner of six rescue dogs and the founder of Muttnation Foundation, an organization that actively works to provide safety for thousands of rescue dogs and rescue puppies around the country.

Muttnation is passionate about providing education and facilitation of adopting shelter pets and keeping these animals safe and healthy.

Aaron Rogers & Olivia Munn

In 2015, this couple became proud parents of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Chance. The actress has happily posted adorable pictures of her dog on Instagram and has urged her followers to look into rescuing dogs as opposed to buying them.

We all know social media is full of adorable animals. Check out her Instagram for some of the cutest doggie pics out there!

Although owning a dog is a lot of hard work, it’s also incredibly fun and rewarding.

Take these celebrities’ advice to heart. Be sure that rescuing is one of the choices you decide to make.

10 Stunning Celebrity Dog Houses You Need to See

Celebrities are almost obliged to splurge on outrageous things, and as expenses go, making sure one’s pet is happy and healthy might seem pretty minor. Not true of the celebrities snapping up these luxury dog houses, which can cost more than most of us make in a decade.

Here are 10 amazing doggie homes that have to be seen to be believed.

The Hilton Mansion

When they’re not running their own Instagram page, Paris Hilton’s dogs are living it up in a canine-sized replica of the Hilton mansion.

The 300 square foot doggie mansion was custom designed by Paris herself, with help from interior decorator Faye Resnick. The cost? A not insubstantial $325,000.

Hilton has a gaggle of pets circulating through her social media, so no one can be sure how many pooches are currently sharing the Hilton Doggie Mansion. It’s probably safe to say they’re in a more comfortable share house situation than we were in college.

Gunther III’s Miami Beach Mansion

When Countess Karlotta Libenstein died in 1991, her German Shepherd dog Gunther III inherited her entire $80 million dollar fortune. Trustees of the estate ensured he made smart investments with his money, including villas in Italy and the Bahamas.

But the most famous of his real estate purchases happened in 2000 when he dropped a cool $7.5 million on a mansion in Miami Beach. The owner of that mansion? Madonna.

Gunther III has since gone onto the big doggie mansion in the sky, but his inheritance is in safe paws. Gunther IV inherited $375 million from his father and is up to his pointy ears in steak and caviar.

The Minill Victorian Mansion

victorian dog house

When an owl almost made off with her beloved Pomeranian, Tammy Kassis did what any rich dog lover would do. She spent $20,000 on a mini-replica of her own Victorian mansion for her pooches.

The luxury dog house has hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, air conditioning, and central heating. Chelsea, Darla, and Coco Puff each have their own bed. Oh, and their owner is in the market for a small plasma TV so that they can watch Animal Planet.

The whole affair is topped off with its very own manicured lawn with a white picket fence. These are proper suburban family dogs.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Dog House

frank lloyd wright dog house

Frank Lloyd Wright was an architect of singular vision and talent. His designs are still celebrated today for making design accessible to all.

And in 1957 he designed a dog house for his Black Lab, Eddie.

The request for the design came from Jim Berger who was then 12 years old. Wright was building Jim’s father a house, and Jim thought he’d put his paper route money toward commissioning Wright himself. The project? An abode for their black Labrador, Eddie.

Wright was a little busy building the Guggenheim at the time but did end up sending plans over the following November.

Celebrity Hacienda Dog House

Supermodel Rachel Hunter splurged $30,000 on a custom designed Hacienda dog house for her canine companion. And the good news is, you can too!

Amenities — yes, amenities — include running water, lighting, air conditioning, and heat. Each doggie Hacienda is custom made to complement the human house and grounds. And if your pet has any allergies, hypoallergenic building materials are available.

The only thing missing is the picket fence, but luckily PawCastle has you covered there.

State-Of-The-Art Gloucestershire Kennel

Two Great Danes in Gloucestershire are living in a dog house that would make Tony Stark jealous.

The state-of-the-art kennel features sheepskin-lined, temperature-controlled beds, automatic deluxe food and water dispensers, a $150,000 sound system, and a 53-inch plasma TV. Oh, and a spa.

The housewarming is definitely sorted at this estate. Or rather it would be if the two Great Danes weren’t the only ones allowed in. No really. This $250,000 doggie home comes with a retina scanner.

William Pedersen’s One Jackson Square (OJS) Doghouse

william pederson dog house

As Design Partner at architecture firm KPF, William Pedersen’s usual credits are a mite taller than the average dog house. That didn’t stop him from designing the OJS Doghouse for a charity event in 2016.

The conical shell of the house uses 57 layers of half-inch-thick baltic birch plywood CNC that have been laminated together. Topped with a flat rooftop, perfect for plantings or a pet bed, the design is both rustic and modern.

Pedersen adds that the circular shape is ideal, as it will “cradle a curled up canine in slumber”.

“Dog is a God” Dog Houses

“Dog is a God” is a line of modern dog houses built by Italian designer Marci Morosini. They range from functionally stylish, like the travel trailer Nomad dog’s house, to creations that are more artwork than dog home.

Morosini seeks to explore the position of worship our canine friends hold. He claims that the one place our dog companions belong is on a pedestal.

The Notre Palais

If you’re after a one-of-a-kind, luxury dog home, you can’t have this one because it’s bought and paid for.

The exclusive Notre Palais dog home is credited to Barbara Thulin-Joyce and sold for a non-insubstantial $5,400.

Converted from a vintage radio frame, this luxury pet abode is furnished with ultra high-end fabrics and intricate embroidery. Perfect for the dog born with a silver spoon in its mouth.

Summa Canum

The Obamas’ family dog Bo was a welcome celebrity during the family’s time in the White House. But you may not have heard he inspired an eco-friendly dog house design.

Summa Cunum, or “top dog” in Latin, was designed to be the perfect compliment to the White House itself. It’s built using Tennessee aromatic cedar trees, the same species planted by President Andrew Jackson. The use of zero-VOC paint renders it good for the environment, and your lungs.

Luxury Dog Houses Are a Booming Industry

Whether you own a million dollar dog, or just believe your canine companion is worth that much, luxury dog houses are a booming industry ripe for the spending.

But it doesn’t stop there. When your canine companion has their own canine companion, the situation may just call for an extravagant doggie wedding. John Legend certainly thought so.

5 Inspiring Celebrity Weight Loss Stories and How Dogs Can Help

Losing weight is the ultimate goal for many men and women.

In America alone, about 38% of adults are considered obese. A whopping 71% are considered overweight.

If you don’t believe me, get out of your bubble and visit a football game or state fair!

Obesity is a rising epidemic that plagues both the young and old — and it doesn’t discriminate. It’s likely that you’ve even seen a few of your favorite celebrities battling weight problems.

Some have captured their journeys on camera, while others handled their weight loss behind the scenes. There are many of us who look to these individuals for inspiration for our own weight loss journeys.

What’s also interesting is that having a pet, such as a dog, can help you shed a few pounds. We’re going to go over some of the top celebrity weight loss stories. Then, we’ll delve deeper into the health benefits of being a dog owner.

1. Candace Cameron Bure: Meal Planning

You’ve seen her hosting on The View and slowly but surely losing weight. Her method revolves around meal planning. According to Candace, it’s all about planning ahead for hunger when you’re on the go.

This is a smart move. After all, we are at our weakest when we’re hungry and far from our kitchens. So rather than stopping at McDonald’s or another fast food joint, you can pack a healthy meal with you.

Another way Candace handled traveling was by eating before going on a cross-country flight.

2. Britney Spears: Personal Trainer

There’s no surprise here, given she was the princess of pop at one point. Why wouldn’t Britney Spears have a personal trainer to guide her to the body she wants? But this doesn’t mean you have to do the same.

Her trainer Tony Martinez divulged some of the methods he used on Britney. This includes what’s known as the Four Bs:

  1. Backward walking
  2. Basketball jump shots
  3. Balancing on one leg while doing medicine-ball slams
  4. Bicycling

And if you follow her on Instagram, you’ll see she also admitted to doing basic workouts such as core work, push-ups, squats, and bar curls.

3. Blake Lively: Homemade Food

After having her daughter in 2014, Blake had to shed the baby weight the next year to play the role of Nancy in The Shallows.

Rather than counting calories or depriving herself of pizza and pasta, she decided to stick to homemade foods for just about everything.

Her diet was well-balanced and healthy.

It included fruits, veggies, proteins, sweet potatoes, avocado, grass-fed butter, and coconut oil. Don Saladino, her trainer, shared that Blake’s main goal was to eat healthy 80% of the time.

This left a little room for treats, such as macaroni and cheese.

4. Kim Kardashian: Protein in Every Meal

Now, we all know Kim Kardashian and have watched her figure thicken and then slim down again, especially after her pregnancy. Her celebrity weight loss journey is quite popular today.

And those trying to do the same are likely counting calories and avoiding protein.

But for Kim, it was included in each of her meals. This is how she says she lost her baby weight – eating meals with 6 oz of protein.

For breakfast, this was in the form of eggs. Lunch was fish, and dinner was lean chicken breast.

5. Jennifer Hudson: Limit Your Eating Time Frame

Here’s another miraculous celebrity weight loss story worth noting. She’s gone from a size 16 to 6 after joining Weight Watchers in 2010.

Since then, she’s been able to maintain the 80 pounds she lost. During an interview on a show in the UK, she revealed that the key to her weight management was not eating too early in the morning or late at night.

How Do Dogs Come Into Play?

Man’s best friend has done it again. They’ve proven themselves to be helpful to humans in so many ways. Besides making great companions and boosting happiness, they’re also known to help with weight loss.

And there’s nothing magical about it. In fact, it’s kind of genius. Having a dog can make you more active and health conscious. When you’re responsible for another life, you tend to do more.

As we all know, when you have a dog, you have to walk it, play with it and make sure they stay healthy. But you have to be committed. So, not all dog owners will have the same results.

Jordin Sparks weight loss was done using healthy herbs, but she’s also a dog lover. So we can imagine how walking her three pups could help her shed a few pounds.

Let’s review how you can make the most of being a dog owner.

Healthy Dog Equals Healthy Celebrity Weight Loss

Now, it’s quite common for dog owners and their dogs to lead the same lifestyles. So if the owner eats a lot and doesn’t do much, the same goes for their pet.

Then comes the weight gain for both the owner and the dog.

This is what was witnessed back in 2007 with Brady Bunch star Maureen McCormick. After seeing her dog gaining a lot of weight from snacking and lying around, she decided to make a healthy change for the both of them.

Working Out with Your Dog

This is by far one of the best benefits of owning a dog. These little ones are born to play, so owners who can keep up will maintain good fitness. You can take your dog on walks, jogs, bike rides and even hikes.

And what’s even better is they will continuously challenge you. Keeping up with your dog isn’t always easy. This means a constant challenge to improve your health.

Dogs Can Motivate You to Move

When you have an active dog, they will keep you active. Try lying around for too long and surely your pet will nudge you for a walk or to play catch with their favorite chew toy.

Once you’ve created a workout regimen that includes your dog, it will help you stay on point. Their energy doesn’t die easily, so your dog will whine until you get up and get moving.

Dogs, Diet, and Exercise

It seems the key to being a healthy person is having the right combination. For some celebrity weight loss stories, this included exercise, dieting, and having a dog.

Celebrities are well-known for sharing their love of their pups. In fact, dogs have almost become a must-have accessory, thanks to celebrities like Paris Hilton, Nichole Richie, and countless others.

If you’re a dog lover, make sure you read up on the latest celebrity dog news online. That way, you’ll know the latest trends when it comes to your four-legged friends, and will learn more about the numerous benefits owning a dog offers to both celebrities and normal people.
