My personal experience with Frontline Plus
The last vacation we took our dog, Katie, was to Santa Fe, NM. The second day we were there, her only concern was stopping whatever was making her itch! She was constantly biting and scratching herself, and then it dawned on me… I hadn’t kept up-to-date with her Frontline Flea and Tick medication!
We rushed to a pet supply store to buy her Frontline Plus, and soon learned that New Mexico has 99 species of fleas, and 27 kinds of sucking lice; the most varieties in the country! It also has the highest density of land mammals in the United States (over 150 native species), which makes its potential for flea and louse infestation huge.
Did you know that a flea can jump 100 times its body length, and 120 times its height? Not only are there a lot of them out there, but they really get around, and they got our dog!
We gladly paid the $72 (plus tax) cost for 3 Frontline Plus applications, even though we knew it was highway robbery. (Even more expensive than buying it from our veterinarian) I searched in vain for a printable Frontline coupon online, but no luck. If I’d ordered it from PetCareRX, like I usually do, I’d have saved $25, plus another 20% discount with their current coupon.
Anyway, we quickly applied the Frontline and stopped the itching, but it was an expensive lesson to learn. (Although we’re big fans of Frontline Plus, also consider K9 Advantix II, or Advantage II , which are both top brands.)
More about Frontline for Dogs & Cats:
Like Advantage II (get a coupon) Frontline Plus quickly eradicates existing fleas, ticks (including eggs and larvae) and chewing lice (gross!) while preventing new ones from staying on your dog or cat. By killing ticks with a deadly mixture of Fipronil, (S)-Methoprene, it stops Lyme’s disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. It also prevents you from having to experience the traumatizing act of pulling ticks off your poor dog!
frontline plus for dogs is packaged by color, according to weight as follows
- Green – for cats 8 weeks and older
- Orange – For small dogs up to 22 pounds
- Red – Dogs from 23 to 44 pounds
- Purple – 45 to 88 pounds
- Blue – Dogs 89 to 132 pounds
Your dog or cat may have a reaction or side effects from Frontline, so be sure to consult your veterinarian if they do. (However, the only side effect from using a coupon is a fatter wallet!)
