Seresto for Small or Large Dogs:

Seresto® for dogs: If your dog or puppy (at least 7 weeks old) is 18 pounds of less, you should consider Seresto for small dogs. Dogs larger than 18 pounds should choose their “large dog” collar.

Here’s how to use a Seresto flea collar for dogs:

Seresto Flea & Tick Collar for Cats:

seresto cat collar

Cats of all sizes can rejoice in the protection that the Seresto for cats flea and tick collar provides. Just like the flea collar for dogs, their collar for cats also offers a full 8 months of protection.

Here’s how to use Seresto flea collars for cats:

Seresto; a better choice for flea & tick protection

Seresto, from Bayer, promises to give your dog or cat a full 8 months of consistent protection from flea and ticks with their new sustained release technology. Unlike its competition, Seresto is odorless and non-greasy. It also requires no “spot on” or topical treatment which directly exposes your dog or cat to powerful chemicals.

This is important to me, personally, because our dog would get sick or uncomfortable after we applied Frontline Plus to the area between her shoulder blades. I also didn’t like the idea of the kids petting her that day, or of the medication rubbing off on our furniture.

You don’t have any of those issues with Seresto flea collars. It’s just as easy as putting the collar on, and not thinking about fleas or ticks for 8 months until you need another collar.

Some of these online-only prices won’t combine with the use of a promo code, but they will always compare the discounts and give you the lower price of the two.

My personal experience with Frontline Plus

The last vacation we took our dog, Katie, was to Santa Fe, NM. The second day we were there, her only concern was stopping whatever was making her itch!  She was constantly biting and scratching herself, and then it dawned on me… I hadn’t kept up-to-date with her Frontline Flea and Tick medication!

We rushed to a pet supply store to buy her Frontline Plus, and soon learned that New Mexico has 99 species of fleas, and 27 kinds of sucking licethe most varieties in the country! It also has the highest density of land mammals in the United States (over 150 native species), which makes its potential for flea and louse infestation huge.

Did you know that a flea can jump 100 times its body length, and 120 times its height?  Not only are there a lot of them out there, but they really get around, and they got our dog!

We gladly paid the $72 (plus tax) cost for 3 Frontline Plus applications, even though we knew it was highway robbery. (Even more expensive than buying it from our veterinarian) I searched in vain for a printable Frontline coupon online, but no luck. If I’d ordered it from PetCareRX, like I usually do, I’d have saved $25, plus another 20% discount with their current coupon.

Anyway, we quickly applied the Frontline and stopped the itching, but it was an expensive lesson to learn. (Although we’re big fans of Frontline Plus, also consider K9 Advantix II, or Advantage II , which are both top brands.)

More about Frontline for Dogs & Cats:

Like Advantage II (get a coupon) Frontline Plus quickly eradicates existing fleas, ticks (including eggs and larvae) and chewing lice (gross!) while preventing new ones from staying on your dog or cat. By killing ticks with a deadly mixture of Fipronil, (S)-Methoprene, it stops Lyme’s disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. It also prevents you from having to experience the traumatizing act of pulling ticks off your poor dog!

frontline plus for dogs is packaged by color, according to weight as follows

  • Green – for cats 8 weeks and older
  • Orange – For small dogs up to 22 pounds
  • Red – Dogs from 23 to 44 pounds
  • Purple – 45 to 88 pounds
  • Blue – Dogs 89 to 132 pounds

Your dog or cat may have a reaction or side effects from Frontline, so be sure to consult your veterinarian if they do. (However, the only side effect from using a coupon is a fatter wallet!)

How do you use a coupon?

Easily get a great discount on Advantage II for cats and dogs in one of two ways. Either click on a promotional link that applies special discount pricing, or get a coupon code to use at checkout for that respective pet store.

Unless denoted with a special “printable” icon, you can’t print these coupons and take them to a store. With free shipping available on many orders, it’s probably cheaper and easier to order it online anyway!

Can you tell me more about Advantage 2?

advantage 2 boxesOf course, thanks for asking! First of all, Advantage 2 from Bayer is an effective flea killer, but not recommended for killing ticks. If you are concerned about both fleas and ticks, check out Frontline Plus and K9 Advantix II.

A fast acting flea medication, Advantage II starts working within 2 hours of application, and will kill preexisting fleas and lice on your dog or cat within the first 12 hours. It’s safe and easy to apply, and is waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about it washing off in the bath, or in your neighbors pool. (ha, ha)

Advantage® kills fleas in all stages of their life cycle, from disgusting little babies up to wise old fleas with long white beards and wizard staffs. It should work for about one month, at which point you should apply more, especially during flea and tick season.

Can dogs have a reaction to Advantage II?

As with any medication, certain dogs and cats may react differently. Like all other flea and tick spot on meds, including Frontline Plus, it has strong active ingredients: in this case Imidacloprid (9.1%) and Pyriproxyfen (0.46%). If you believe that your pet is having problems related to this medication, please consult your vet as soon as possible.
